Did you know, adults can achieve great results with Invisalign? Contrary to popular belief, great results with Invisalign are not achieved only by young people but also by many adults. People usually associate orthodontics with childhood and adolescents. Millions of people have gone through the process of having teenage braces, so they can have better smiles later in life. However, not everyone does. Many adults need orthodontic correction but put off having work done.

The reasons why are fairly obvious. Braces can sometimes be unpleasant to wear, and extremely obvious to anyone nearby. Many adults fear the embarrassment that can come with adult braces, or even worry getting braces could inhibit their career prospects.

Fortunately, there’s a great alternative available here in Guelph – Invisalign!

Why Invisalign Makes Sense for Adult Orthodontic Work

Invisalign is a system of corrective orthodontic retainers that do the same job as traditional braces, but in a way, which fits better into the adult lifestyle. An Invisalign appliance is a custom-molded plastic piece which fits directly onto the teeth and shifts them ever-so-slightly in the direction they need to go.

Each retainer is only worn for a one to two weeks. The next tray is then placed in which moves the teeth a little more. In this way, over the course of anywhere between 3 to 24 months (depending on the required movement, you get the orthodontic correction you need.

Invisalign has several benefits over traditional braces for adults:

  • Invisalign is invisible. The retainers are made from clear molded plastic and are extremely hard for other people to see.  Your friends or coworkers may not even realize you’re having corrective work done!
  • Invisalign is removable. Whenever you’re engaged in an activity that would be inhibited by the retainer, you can simply take it out.  But to be clear, it does need to be worn around-the-clock, even when sleeping, aside from brief breaks such as eating or brushing your teeth.
  • Invisalign doesn’t require dietary changes. Since you can remove the retainer, you can eat whatever you like. There’s no need to change your diet, unlike traditional braces.
  • Invisalign is comfortable. Any orthodontic correction may involve mild discomfort, but the lack of metal and wires makes Invisalign far more pleasant to wear than braces.
